A Girl's Gotta Eat |
Just discovered I love food as much as I love sports and music. Wandering around Atlanta trying to discover new tastes for my palette. |
Big meals on Easter Sunday is usually my steez, but I went a little light this year. Country Pork Ribs with homemade BBQ sauce and Brussel Sprouts sauteed with butter, olive oil and bacon. This was the best meal ever. I have decided that Brussel Sprouts are my favorite veggie. I’m hungry now, I am about to go make some.
Everybody I know uses Scoutmob and this restaurant just happened to be on the list. I had never been to the Corner Tavern, but the menu looked really good. So I convinced my coworkers to join me there. BLT’s are on my list of things that I try everywhere to see where it tastes best. This day I ordered the BLT on wheat with the mayo on the side. The Rogue Beer Boiled smashed potatoes gave a faint taste of brew and were delicious. My coworker ordered fries with CURRY KETCHUP …that alone was enough for me to return three or four times after this lunch adventure.
I went for a hodge podge meal on this day. Honey glazed fried chicken, marinated portobello mushroom, sauteed green beans and mashed cauliflower & potatoes. The corn beef & cheese sandwich was just an added plus.
This is another lunch time meal
Roasted pork, sauteed garlic green beans, white rice and lemon garlic sauce with roasted root vegetables. As a kid, my mother tried to make me eat beets. They were disgusting, but Bon Appetit has made me love them.
Since the new company has taken over the cafeteria, I never leave my job for lunch. This day sesame chicken thighs, sauteed collards, Asian style pasta and spinach salad.
If you’ve read my blog early on, you know about my hash quest. If not, you can read it here. Today I went to breakfast at J. Christopher’s. People always swear by the food, so I decided to try it out. I saw the Blueberry Crunch cakes, but couldn’t partake because I am attempting to eat a tad healthier. When I noticed they had corned beef hash, I knew I had to try it. The “Route 66” came in a small cast iron skillet with eggs and an English muffin. I like my eggs Sunny side up even though most of my friends cringe when I eat “runny eggs”. When I got my skillet of hash, I was disappointed. I could tell from sight that it was canned hash. They added their own breakfast potatoes to the hash, but it did not make up for the mushy corned beef. I will give J Christopher’s another try, but I won’t eat the hash again.
Recently the cafeteria at my job switched food service companies. Bon Appetit subscribes to a farm to table philosophy. They use local ingredients and antibiotic & hormone free meat. The dishes have been so good that I even decided to get a meal plan. This particular day lunch consisted of honey glazed chicken breasts, steamed garlic green beans, zucchini bread and skordalia (mashed potato & cauliflower). My drink of choice is cucumber water. This lunch was perfect.
I have posted pics of my fries and gravy from Central City Tavern twice already. And then I learned a special trick, you can order a side of gravy with your fries. But this day I order a mushroom and Swiss veggie burger. Most veggie burgers that I have had in the past have some form of brown rice in them. This burger was made in the restaurant and they take vegetable and puree them together to make an actual VEGGIE patty. It tasted great!! It wasn’t dry like other veggie patties that I have tasted. Again my trip to Central City was very satisfying!!
I only eat gumbo made by people from Louisiana. So when my friend Tangela started cutting sausage from the Louisiana Market & rolling spicy meatballs, I had to take a picture. That gumbo was the bomb.com
La Fonda Latina is a local favorite of mine. I hadn’t been there to eat in about 5 years. But what I always remembered was the delicious paella. I raved about it to my friends for so long that we finally had to go. Of course I ordered the paella. And because it was my fish Friday, I had to get the seafood paella. In the picture, there are chunks of salmon, shrimp, mussels, scallops and loads or good yellow rice. It was still as good as I remembered. The only thing it was lacking was the crust at the bottom of the miniature skillet. If you are looking for a reasonably priced paella, please check out La Fonda.
